Midsize Car Sales In Canada October 2014 YTD

2015 Chrysler 200 grey
After a three-month streak in which the Hyundai Sonata was Canadas best-selling intermediate car, the Chrysler 200 stole the show in October 2014, fuelled by a new design, the disappearance of its Dodge Avenger twin, and powerful incentives. The 200 outsold its nearest rival, the Honda Accord, by 421 units in October.

Canadas best-selling car through the first ten months of 2014, however, is the Ford Fusion, the countrys favourite midsize car in four of the last five years. Like the segment overall, Fusion sales are tumbling in 2014, falling 12% as the categorys fallen 14%. But like the segment in October, Fusion sales rose slightly, climbing 4% as midsize sales increased 3%.

Few cars joined in on the October fun, however, as the moderate increase was created mostly by massive increases from two nameplates (and more moderate increases from the 6, Legacy, and Fusion) which counteracted declines from the Accord, Sonata, Optima, Altima, Camry, and Passat.

Chevrolet Malibu sales shot up 160%, an increase of 704 units. The 200s 120% gain translated to 980 extra sales.

You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly Canadian auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBCs Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank midsize cars any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isnt here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why youll see the Outback and Venza listed with midsize SUVs, too... because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
